“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it”. Proverbs 22:6

Dear sponsors and friends,
Many greetings from Romania!

Please receive a thank you note on behalf of the members of New Generation Impact Organization and especially from the 34th orphan children who participated at the camp YOU ARE PRECIOUS! This camp took place at Moeciu de Sus, a very beautiful mountain area, near Brasov and lasted for eight days during 18th of June till 25th of June 2004. The participants were 34th children from two orphanages near Brasov area: Codlea and Rupea.

This camp was planned for a long time and was supported in prayer by many people in order that God touches the lives of the children. We named this camp You are precious because first of all we wanted that these children to understand that they – as individuals – are precious and unique and no matter what their condition are, no matter what their family situations and their possibilities are. Our organization’s goal for such camps is to implement God’s principles in the lives of the children, and one of the most important is that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His immense love made us all valuable and precious in His eyes, no matter what our possibilities and conditions are!

Not many of us know that most of the children who live in orphanages have parents. And even with parents, for many of the kids it is a much better life in the state orphanages than to live with their parents. The reasons are many: very poor family conditions and environment, abusive parents with no responsibilities, families with any children and no financial and material possibilities, divorce, death of one or both parents.

These children know in details what the difficulties and tragedies of life are! The good news is that God does not despise a broken and contrite heart (Ps. 51:17b) and He will be the defender of these little children.

Please take time to read some of the following impressions from the camp and we, as organizers, hope that you will be rewarded for supporting financially this camp!

With blessings,
NGI Team

Our team was formed by 13th volunteers: Lucian Sandu and Vali Stef - main organizers of the camp, Hanna Lund – music, Dani Mocan – phisician, Razvan Stavila – photos, Magda Grama – craft, Daniela Fagadar & Damaris Mocan – counselors, Catalin Corches, Claudiu Grama, Raluca, Madalina & Diana – co-organizers. Ten members of this team are new born Christians, three teenagers from the team are not new born Christians but they had the opportunity to see a practical way of involving God in all the camp events.

From the beginning of the camp there was organized for the children to take two psychological tests (the tree test and how my family looks like) in order to understand better the children’s problems and needs and so that the team could relate better to every child.

ONE DAY IN THE CAMP

Every day started with 15th minutes of physical exercises activity enjoyed most by the younger kids!

After breakfast, all the children would gather for lesson time. At the beginning of each lessons children would watch the MUPPETS SHOW played by Pagadi wolf and Kermit the frog. Every day had a special lesson for children, lessons which pointed the main message of this camp: You are created by God and he loves you, You are unique, Your life has a great value, You decide what is your value, Don’t let the others to steal your value. All the lessons contained different stories and examples that children could process and understand.

All the children were included in small groups by age (5 or 6 children to a leader). After every lesson every child would go to his group and discuss the practical directions gave by the leader who taught the lesson. Here, the children had the opportunity to express their opinions and feelings and the leader could answer to their questions. Some of the topics discussed in small groups were: what are my special characteristics that makes me unique, how can I destroy my life and how can I protect my life, which is my greatest dream for may life, in which ways can people steal my value. This was an important time because children could identify the wrong ways they are using to have fun or in life, and correct practical ways they could use in order not to suffer consequences.

Every day included a special game program named Awana games: all the children were divided in four teams (the red team, the yellow team, the green team and the blue team) and the teams competed in different kind of competitions and games. This was the most enjoyed time for the children ! Finally, the blue team became victorious at Awana Games!

After lunch we included in the schedule two hours of break time when the children could take a nap, or play different games, read or have time to invest in relationships with others. All the children who would choose to take a nap after lunch, they were rewarded with NGI money – the authorized banknote for this camp!

Craft time was also an enjoyed time for the kids! Here they could put in action their artistic talents! They made bracelet from thread and small marbles, Noa’s ark from paper hearts, e-mail boxes in which everyone of them could put appreciation messages for their friends, fashion competition (clothes made by colored paper), the team’s mascot (every team choose to mask a member of his team into a personage: yellow team choose a dalmatian dog, green team choose a tiger, read team choose a clown and blue team choose to mask into Superman. Also, one member of the leader’s team (Diana) organized a face painting session and everybody in the camp was painted on the face.

One day was designed to a special expedition along the river to a marvelous clearing. All the children walked for 12 km back and forth and for lunch they made themselves fried sausage at the fire. This was a very exciting thing for all the children and they had a great experience! Also during the walk the teams were assigned to gather as many information as they can in order to draw a map of the road. Every child had to count some details for the map: houses, animals, bridges, the water’s course, the pillars, the shops, the motels, and so on and so forth. Teamwork was necessary and children could learn through this experience how to build their team.

In the last evening of the camp everyone from the camp went out to a nice area near the river and sang songs at a fire camp. Because this was the last day in this camp the children were allowed to stay longer and the lights were turned of at 11 o’clock.

In Experiencing God Blackaby said find out where God is working and join Him. We, members of the NGI team believe that God is working in this direction. We truly appreciate that you saw this area of orphans as a work field where God is working and joined Him.

Thank you for choosing Romanian orphans and our prayers are that God bless you and your families abundantly!

Our vision is that such camps take place every year so that we can continue the relationship with all these children. NGI members invite you to join God in a life changing venture. How? By PRAYING frequently and frequently and by continuing to sponsor financially such camps.
